Policies
Here at the Candlelight B&B, Peter and I promise to do our best to make your stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible, with minimum fuss, ‘rules’ and regulations. However, we feel we would be failing if we didn’t let you know our terms and conditions and give you the choice of acceptance. Please take a few minutes to read through our common sense rules and regulations.
Booking and Payment
A MasterCard or Visa card that has a valid expiry date for the booking date will be required for a reservation.
Check-In
Check-in is from 3:00 -6:00 pm only. We do not have a manned 24hr reception and we do not allow remote access unless previously discussed. For the comfort of all guests, no check ins will be allowed after 9:00 pm as many of our guests may already be in bed and it would be unfair to them to be woken up by luggage being dragged down the hallway or up the stairs.
Cancellations
Cancellation arrangements: Please notify us as early as possible if you wish to cancel your booking. After May 1 the credit card provided at the time of booking will be charged a $25.00 per night non refundable deposit. As we have a 14 day cancellation period, the balance of your booking will be charged 14 days prior to your stay with us. If a cancellation occurs within the 14 days of your arrival, or there is a no-show, the full amount of your reservation will be charged to the credit card provided upon making your reservation with us. For groups reserving three or more rooms, we have a 30 day cancellation policy. With us having a two night minimum stay, if you should cancel one of your evenings of a two night booking with us, unfortunately we will need to cancel your entire reservation. As we have no control over weather conditions, family illnesses, guest illness, ferry or flight cancellation or delays, our cancellation policy will also take affect for these conditions. We suggest all guests purchase travel insurance for unforeseen circumstances.
Adults Only
No more than double occupancy is allowed per room. Candlelight B&B is an adult only accommodation and no one under the age of 19 will be allowed to stay with us, no exceptions.
Smoking
Smoking (or vaping) is not allowed anywhere inside the house. There is a container for your cigarette butts along with a bench on the side of the garage that is covered by the roof line. It actually has a great view of the ocean. We do ask that you don’t just flick your butts on the driveway or on the grass… Thank you
Pets
Candlelight B&B does not allow animals. If a guest turns up on arrival day with an animal, you will be turned away and your booking will be treated as a cancellation (see above).
Damages
Candlelight B&B reserves the right to charge for avoidable damage to rooms. You will be charged for excessively soiled or oil stained linen or damaged towels due to make-up, self tanning, peroxide based skin cleanser stains or hair dye. Also you will be charged the full daily rate as listed elsewhere on this site if a room is put out of use through unreasonable or avoidable damage along with a cleaning fee (to be determined by owners).
Laundry
Personal laundry is not to be done in our bathroom sinks or tubs as it causes premature scratching to the finishes. We have two laundromats in town that we can direct you to if need be. Fees will apply for non compliance.
Cooking
We do not allow cooking of any type by guests on our property due to insurance purposes.
Unfortunately we can no longer provide our kitchen to eat any type of shellfish due to allergic reactions of other guests. We do have picnic tables in the yard overlooking the ocean and we would be happy to provide all necessary gear to eat your lobsters.
Footwear
With new flooring throughout the main floor, we do not allow outside footwear past our front entrance. We do have knitted slippers available if you’d like to borrow them for your stay with us.
Our Promise
Our obligation to you is to provide a safe, clean and comfortable environment. We will provide high quality bed linens, towels and bathroom amenities for each guest. We will provide a change of bath towels at the guests request however we do not have daily maid service. We promise to provide you with a choice of different breakfast choices in which you let us know what you would like to eat and at what time (between 7:30 – 9:00 am) as part of the room rate. We will go over maps of our National Park for the best trails, along with a town map for local attractions and restaurant options. From the moment you make your reservation with us, we will be here to answer your questions and to make your visit to Gros Morne a memorable experience.
Our request for our guests is that you be respectful to other guests in our home, especially exiting and entering the property late at night. Please treat our home as you would yours by not leaving the windows open when it rains, don’t turn the heat up to 30 in your room if you want your window open to listen to the waves, and please don’t leave our front door open as you exit or enter the house… You know, common sense stuff. Also please be respectful to our personal areas that are marked Employees Only or Private. THANK YOU
